GENERAL RULES
.001. There are many things that make a site go ‘round. Respect is the biggest aspect of any of them. If you respect someone, they will respect you in turn. In short, respect begets respect. If you show no respect, you’ll get none in turn. Keep that in mind when speaking to other members, guests, and staff.
.002. Rating. The Silence is rated PG-15. That means that you can swear in and out of character, but I don’t want to see the f-bomb dropped everywhere. Especially not in c-box.
.003. Staff’s word is law. Don’t argue with us, and don’t try to prove you’re right, even when you are. It makes you look petty and rather childish. Besides, I don’t appoint staff for no reason, therefore, you can imagine that they hold the position they do for a good reason.
.004. My word is final. End of story.
.005. You more or less have to be 13 years of age to join proboards. Don’t join if you aren’t mature enough to handle interaction with others. .006. Stock. All photos must be stock. Either from flickr or deviant art. If it’s not stock, don’t post it here, or we could all get in trouble and the site shut down. Keep that in mind, all right? If you need help or aren’t sure, feel free to ask. We don’t bite. .007. Regarding high positions. A member can only hold two high positions. Also, it’ can’t be the same position. Another restriction is that it cannot be deputy/leader. However, it can be any other combination. If you’re inactive for more than two weeks with no explanation, you lose your positions.
.008. This site is account per player, APP, so you should have only one account. Also, please don’t put numbers in it, or underscores, or anything that is not an alphabetic character please. It keeps things looking nice.
.009. Agree to disagree. This means please don’t argue. If you have problems with another member, then simply avoid them, or at least attempt to be cordial to them. If you must argue, don’t do it in the cbox. Don’t do it anywhere on the site, as it gives a bad reputation to everyone.
.010. Advertising is to be kept in the advertising board. Don’t do it in the cbox, don’t do it in ic posts, just, keep in mind that there is a board for it, therefore, you should post it there, thank you.
.011. Avatars are to be 100 x 100, and signatures/tables should not exceed 500 pixels in width.
CHARACTER RULES
.001. When making a character, make sure the name is not already taken, please. It avoids having to go and see who is who.
.002. While The Silence is not a strictly realistic roleplay, I will not allow odd fur colors, odd eye colors, or overly strange markings. Color and markings must be realistic. End of story, no exceptions.
.003. Every IC post must be at least 200 words long, not counting dialogue. There are consequences for not meeting word count. However, if it’s in the 190’s, you’re fine, unless it‘s a habit of yours. The first time this is not met, you will be warned and asked to fix it. If it continues, you will be asked if you need help building your post. If it continues, you will be suspended for a few days, and eventually, banned.
.004. No character is perfect, so don’t make them that way. You must have flaws in your characters. Also, not every cat will have a tragic past. I don’t want to see a whole bunch of kitty pets-turned warriors either. It’s irritating.
.005. The Silence is AU, which means Alternate Universe. That means, nothing in the books, any of them, ever happened. None of the characters ever lived. In fact, I’m messing with the story to a point where everything canon and known is totally screwed. Deal with it.
.006. Names. Names, names names. I’d like to think we’re somewhat traditional on In the Sun. We won’t take strange names, such as diamond, dragon, truck, sparkle, or anything just plain stupid. It has to be something the cats would know about. Also, we don’t accept star, moon, or anything the cats hold sacred. No, sorry, not going to happen. However, you may have strange names along the lines of , crooked, jagged, broken, if THERE IS A REASON for there name to be this. Also, they can not of been named this as a kit without a very good reason.
.007. We'd prefer you post in third person, but you can post however you'd like, it is up to you.
.008. Powerplaying and Godmoding should be a given, but let me make sure. Don’t do this. Ever. If you are caught doing this, there will be steps taken to let you know you’ve done wrong, and repeated offenses will get you banned quite quickly.
.009. Don’t harass staff to go and accept your bio, please. We’ll get to it in our own time, which will hopefully be quickly and efficiently. Thank you for having patience.
.010. We don't have a character limit, but if cats are being made and then dropped, I will make one, okay? Okay.
.011. No cat can get a sign from StarClan without the permission/knowledge of the staff members, okay? It we want a site-wide plot to be put into use, then we will discuss it among ourselves and then test the waters of the member pool, okay? All the characters here are amazing and special, but no need to try and put yourself head and shoulders above everyone else.
.012. Liquid time is allowed, but try not to get so far ahead of yourself that you get burnt out. Also, keep in mind that for every IC post, it must be 150 words. The only exception to the wc rule is training threads and gathering threads, simply so those threads can get finished in a reasonable time.
.013. All warriors are open to being mentors. This means, if you make a warrior, you will most likely have a apprentice assigned to you eventually. If you do not wish to have an apprentice, please pm the staff and politely inform this of this, okay?
.014. Apprentices and mentors must have two threads minimum together before the apprentice can get their warrior name. When the threads are complete, pm the clan leader and let them know, that way they can get a clan meeting started.
.015. Queens and kits cannot be made right off the bat. Queens expecting kits, or queens with kits already cannot be made immediately. They must be warriors first, and relations should be played out in at least one thread before becoming a queen.
.016. Apprentices' bios should be made with their warrior name in mind, and PM to the leader, please and thank you.
RELATIONSHIP RULES
.001. Female leaders, deputies, and all medicine cats are forbidden from having kits. If they have kits before they gain the rank of leader or deputy, that is fine. However, the kits have to at least be apprentices. They cannot have them if they are at that high rank, however. Not without punishment
.002. Forbidden relationships are allowed, however, there will be a limit on them and they will be taken seriously. The cats in these relationships would be going against their Clan(s), and shoving years of tradition out the door for better or worse. These will not always be accepted by the leaders and warriors of the Clans. The best thing to do is to give the leader’s roleplayer a heads-up about it, and discuss what would happen if it were to be followed through.
.003. Forbidden relationships can only have kits if they are bought from the stores. Other than that, it cannot happen.
.004. It takes a male and female pair to make kits. I don’t care if your cat is gay, and his mate is also a tom. They cannot have kits between them. Same goes for two she-cats.
.005. To have kits, the couple needs to have had at least two threads together. Also, any kit that doesn’t have a roleplayer by the due-date will be stillborn. All due-dates will be two weeks after the kit application is posted in the breeding board.
*We, the staff of The Silence, reserve the right to add/change rules in the future, and the site will be notified.

STARCLAN && DARKFOREST CATS
.001. These cats cannot be created, then can only be won in contests held on the. That, or bought from the store.
.002. These cats cannot have kits. They're dead. Sorry. Kits can be created, but keep in mind, they'll not age as living cats will.
.003. The cats can't go wandering about in everyone's dreams. If we want something to do with StarClan or the Darkforest, then we'll let the appropriate people know. For the most part, the dead will not speak to the living.
.004. Leaders who have died, will have their warrior names, instead of 'star'. I know, in the books they keep the 'star', but here they will not. There is no absolute leader of the different Clans.
.005. If one of your living or dead cats is involved in a part of a site-wide plot, please, don't tell anyone. If you know more than you are letting on, keep it a secret. .006. The dead cannot (as of yet) walk the steps of the living. That means no cats in the mortal realm of the Clans, okay?
*We, the staff of TS, reserve the right to update these as we see fit.

HIGH RANK RULES
.001. Leaders must be at least 35 moons of age. Their history must also be in accordance to the site, and must adhere to traditional warrior conditions, such as having had an apprentice.
.002. Deputies, will be at least 25 moons of age. They must have had an apprentice at some point in their history, and their history must adhere to site history as best as possible.
.003. If a medicine cat is below 20 moons in age, the apprentice for medicine cat will be closed until the cat is older, unless staff is told otherwise.
.004. All leaders must hold a Clan meeting at least once every two months. Making apprentices warriors, kits apprentices, are their job. Make sure you do it.
.005. If a leader's roleplayer disappears, the deputy, if still around, becomes leader and chooses deputy from the pool of active warriors in their Clan. .006. The word count must be adhered to if you are going to have a high ranking character. .007. Regarding high positions. A member can only hold two high positions. Also, it’ can’t be the same position. Another restriction is that it cannot be deputy/leader. However, it can be any other combination. If you’re inactive for more than two weeks with no explanation, you lose your positions.
